Introducing the Food Cubby
Posted on 5th May 2016
Sometimes you stumble across a great product, and other times you stumble across a great product with an even better story.
We have just received our first shipment of a product called the Food Cubby, and while the product itself is excellent, the fact it was designed by a 6 year old girl named Ruby makes it amazing. Her story with a little help from her mum is below…
When your 6-year old girl tells you she wants to stay home from school because she “doesn’t have enough time to invent things,” and goes off to her room each day for hours to work on “projects,” it’s time to start listening.
After the prototypes of ‘dream machines,’ ‘stuffie carriers,’ homemade games, airplane models and other inventions started to build up in the corners of Ruby’s room, we figured we would empower her constant stream of ideas by showing her how one of her creations — molded, taped, stapled together or otherwise — could become an actual product.
The Food Cubby is Ruby’s first design on the market, but certainly not her last! She has also committed to donating a portion of her profits to the Save the Children organization.
Say goodbye to plastic divider plates and extra bowls and plates to wash, the Food Cubby means kids now have a simple solution to make sure their foods don’t touch. For some it’s colour or texture, while for others it’s just the way they like their food organised, either way the Food Cubby is the answer. It also works brilliantly as an edge for kids to push their food against, rather than chasing that last piece of dinner around the plate or using fingers to push it onto a fork or spoon.
Finally, the Food Cubby is made from 100% FDA approved food grade silicone, it’s top rack dishwasher safe, sticks to almost any flat surface and is portable enough to go wherever your child might be eating. Stop the “yuck!” and put a smile on the plate.
Well done Ruby, we look forward to seeing what you come up with next!
